Your Quest Continues: The Knight of Pentacles and the Capricorn Full Moon

I am excited to welcome the Full Moon in Capricorn on Monday, June 29th. It will peak at 4:56 PM PT, but as always you can start harnessing it's energy the night before, the night of, and the night after its peak.
This is going to be the first Full Moon to complete a six-month cycle in 2026.
Let me explain.
When manifest with the Moon, there is a 30-day cycle from new to full to new again.
There is also a six-month cycle from the New Moon in a sign to the Full Moon in that same sign.
In this case, Capricorn hosted the first New Moon of 2026, which means that at this Full Moon, we get to revisit the intentions we set back in January.
New Year’s intentions are notorious for losing focus. It’s natural.
One of my intentions for 2026 was to be more consistent with my content. Sure enough, though I had plans for a post at the New Moon in Gemini as well as one on the Summer Solstice, I was on vacation, and it didn’t happen.
To help myself and all of us return to the focus and intention we set in January, I am calling on the Knight of Pentacles for this Capricorn Full Moon.
The Knight of Pentacles isn’t here to make us wrong for missing a deadline or falling short on our goals. He would consider that a waste of time.
He has one instruction for moments like this: Pick up where you left off. Take the next step. Keep going.
So here we are, at the Full Moon in Capricorn, and here is the Knight of Pentacles. I haven’t written about him before, and he has been patient about that. He always is.
The Knight of Pentacles: Embodied Beliefs Lead the Thinking Mind
In the Smith Rider Waite, the Knight of Pentacles sits astride a heavy black horse.
Look at the other Knights in the deck, and you'll see horses mid-leap, rearing up, or charging forward.
The Knight of Cups walks at a dreamy, measured pace. The Knight of Wands rears with theatrical energy. The Knight of Swords races headlong into the wind.
The Knight of Pentacles? His horse is standing still.
He holds his pentacle in front of him with both hands, gazing at it. He is not charging. He is not even moving, as far as we can tell. He is studying his pentacle, taking stock, making sure everything is in order before he puts one deliberate hoof in front of the other.
The landscape around him is a plowed field, dark and fertile, ready to receive a seed. The sky is golden. There is potential here, and an atmosphere of complete patience.
He isn't in a hurry. He understands that what he is building cannot be rushed.
At Sea Tarot, Knights are ruled by Air, which represents the intellect and the way we communicate our intentions, both to ourselves and to the world. Pentacles are ruled by Earth, which represents our beliefs, our bodies, and the material reality we create from those beliefs.
The suit element leads, and the court element follows, which means the Knight of Pentacles is Earth first, Air second. The body leads the mind. What we know in our bones directs what the intellect goes out to build.
This is the brain supporting our beliefs.
That combination creates our slowest Knight. Earth is patient. Earth doesn't rush. Earth takes the long view.
The Knight of Wands is Fire and Air - passion fueled by intellect, fast and bright.
The Knight of Cups is Water and Air - heart guided by mind, romantic and questing.
The Knight of Swords is Air and Air - pure thought racing toward its target, no brakes.
The Knight of Pentacles is Earth on Air - Embodied beliefs that inform clear-headed thinking. He can sit with a long view of his quest before moving into action.
And when he does move, he moves on purpose.
The Knight of Pentacles and Capricorn
The symbol for Capricorn is the mountain goat. And the mountain goat does not scramble. It does not panic. It does not look at the summit and feel overwhelmed by the distance. It finds the next foothold, steps onto it, and looks for the one after that.
Discipline. Sticktoitiveness. The willingness to keep showing up.
That is Capricorn.
Pentacles are also ruled by earth. So when we work with the Knight of Pentacles under a Full Moon in Capricorn, we are in deeply resonant territory. The card and the moon share elemental DNA. Both are asking us to stay grounded, stay practical, and trust the slow work.
The Queen of Pentacles is 100% a Capricorn card. She is the one who tends to what she has built, who nourishes and sustains.
The Knight is still on his way. He's climbing. He's preparing. He's moving with deliberate intention toward what the Queen will one day steward.
He finds the next foothold. Steps. Finds the next one. Steps again. He looks neither too far up the mountain, that's how vertigo starts, nor too far down. He trusts the next step.
The Full Moon in Capricorn asks you to look at your year so far. Take pride in what you've accomplished. Be honest about what you still want to do, without feeling overwhelmed. Don't compare yourself to others or what you said you'd be in January. This is a moment to reset, recommit, and reengage.
Knight of Pentacles Meaning: Don't Let Perfect Be the Enemy of the Good
In my experience, both as a reader and as a business owner, the invitation to prepare thoroughly can quietly become its own obstacle. We convince ourselves we need one more thing in place before we can begin. One more skill, one more resource, one more moment of feeling ready.
In my journey to becoming a tarot reader, the initial leap of faith to say, I guess I'm going to do this wild thing, was very much a Fool card moment.
Immediately after came the logistics. I would need a business card. I wanted it to look a very specific way. I guess I'll need to learn Adobe Photoshop if I want to be a tarot reader. Wrong!
This is how the Knight of Pentacles shows up in fear and contraction.
He plans to climb Mt. Rainier, but before he takes step one, he wants his crampons, his fuel, his GPS.
It's fine to take the time to get prepared before bringing your pentacle into the world. It matters! That pentacle represents something fundamental to what you came to do on this planet.
But you will never have all the things. And that's okay, it's not about the summit, or the planning. It's your journey.
Instead of building a generator to open a flower shop, you simply hook up to the grid. Instead of learning a complicated software system to design a logo, I went online, found a template, and had my business cards in two days.
Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. We've got six more months in 2026. Let's get to it!
The Full Moon in Capricorn: Take Stock of the Climb
Full Moons are the moment in the lunar cycle when we get to see what has been growing in the dark.
As I mentioned, this one is special. It closes the loop on January's intentions and asks us to revisit the intention seeds we planted six months ago.
If you set intentions in January, this is the moment to revisit them.
Not to audit yourself against a checklist, or to feel behind on everything you haven't done. But to genuinely ask: what has grown? What surprised you? What shifted? And what do you want to tend more carefully in the second half of the year?
The Knight of Pentacles is a perfect companion for this kind of honest accounting. He doesn't catastrophize and he doesn't spin. He just looks at his pentacle, assesses where things stand, and takes the next step.
And Capricorn, this steady mountain goat energy, is one of the most honest mirrors you'll find.
The Full Moon in Capricorn asks you to look at the mountain you are climbing and acknowledge the distance you've already traveled.
Not to compare. Not to calculate what's left. Just to recognize: you have been moving, even when it didn't feel like it. Even when you were on a beach not posting. The work doesn't disappear when you step away from it. And it doesn't require your apology when you come back to it.
What This Full Moon Wants You to Know
One of my 2026 New Year's goals was to hike the Lost Coast of California at my birthday. I set that intention as a real celebration that my back surgery was a success and that I could keep strengthening as I aged.
Unfortunately, that disk has reherniated!
Even with the back pain, I managed to enjoy one of my 2026 goals — scuba with hundreds of sharks in Tahiti!
As for the Lost Coast, I will work with the Knight of Pentacles and this Full Moon by releasing some of my attachment to it, while still moving towards it.
I've got the camping reservation. I've got my PT exercises and a team of healers. At the Full Moon, I can ask for support from the Divine as well.
I'm both preparing my body, and I'm preparing to receive miraculous healing. My beliefs are informing my thoughts, and I'm keeping my thoughts in alignment with my body.
Prepare, Release, Receive:
Acknowledge what you've actually done. Not what you planned to do, or what you wish you'd done by now. What have you actually, concretely, moved forward? Write it down. Read it back to yourself. Be the mountain goat who turns and looks at how far the valley is below.
Find your next foothold. What is the very next concrete step in your project, your calling, your long game? Not five steps from now. Just one. The Knight of Pentacles doesn't plan the entire mountain at once. He plans for the next reliable surface beneath his foot.
Check your pack. This Knight is a great resourcer. Do you have what you actually need to take that next step? If you're missing something, this Full Moon is a good moment to identify it clearly, without shame. Knowing what you need is not weakness. It's preparation.
Revisit your January intentions. Pull out whatever you wrote at the New Moon in Capricorn, or at the start of the year, if you wrote anything at all. Read it without judgment. You are not grading yourself. You are orienting.
The Knight of Pentacles uses his resources, and your January intentions are a resource. They tell you what mattered to you then, and they may still tell you something about what matters now. What do you want to recommit to for the second half of 2026?
Let go of the missed moments. The New Moon came and went. The Solstice too. If you missed a window, a deadline, a post, a plan, the Full Moon in Capricorn is not interested in that story. It is interested in what you do next. You can pick up exactly where you left off and keep trekking.
