There are a lot of invitations for manifestation work right now!

If you are in the Bay Area, come join me for my annual Vision Board workshop! There are two dates, January 18th (the New Moon!) and January 25th!

We're in the heart of January, that liminal space between the holiday chaos and the reality of a new year. New Year's resolutions have likely already started to fade, but here's the thing: there's still plenty of time to create a vision for 2026 that will actually stick.

On Sunday, January 18th, we have the New Moon in Capricorn, which is one of the most grounded and practical New Moons of the year.

Capricorn energy is all about building something real, something that lasts. It's not about grand gestures or empty promises—it's about getting clear on what you truly want and taking the first steps to make it happen.

A New Moon is the perfect time to harness your powers of manifestation.

When it comes to manifestation in the Tarot, it's Major Arcana I: The Magician that we turn to for support.

The Magician is a master of translating symbols into tangible reality and intentions into outcomes.

If astrology and lunations sound a little "out there," no worries. As a Tarot reader, I get it. But The Magician's message is easy and practical: If you want to receive miracles, you're going to need to ask for miracles!

Miracles are not burning bushes. They are present every day. When we work with The Magician, we acknowledge our own miraculous nature.

Manifesting means creating, and seeing that you are a creator in the midst of all creation is nothing short of real magic.

2026 and The Number 1

"You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop."

Let me be clear: I'm not a numerologist. I view these systems as metaphors—beautiful ways to connect with wonder, imagination, and receptivity. You don't have to believe in numerology for it to serve as a powerful reminder of your creative potential.

But symbols are powerful, and the number 1 has some very special characteristics.

2026 is both a 10-year and a 1-year (2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 10, and 1 + 0 = 1).

In numerology, 1 is linked to new beginnings, independence, leadership, and creation. It's the number of fresh starts and pure potential.

In the Tarot, that means we are working with The Wheel of Fortune (10) and The Magician (1).

The number 1 is a line—a starting point. It represents the individual, the self, the "I am." It's the moment before momentum, the instant of pure possibility.

The invitation of 2026, and specifically this New Moon in Capricorn, is to ground yourself in your own creative power. To acknowledge that you are the Magician—the one who bridges heaven and earth.

The Magician: Infinite Potential into Outcomes

There are 4 cards in the Smith Rider Waite deck that include the lemniscate symbol (∞): The Two of Pentacles, The Magician, Strength, and The World.

I've written about the Two of Pentacles, Strength, and The World, but The Magician deserves special attention as one of our cards for 2026.

The Magician bridges heaven and earth. He reminds us that we are the conduit between the two.

In the image above, we see the Major Arcana cards split into three lines. We credit Rachel Pollack for presenting the Majors in this useful framework.

We can think of the three horizontal lines like three acts in a play. Line One presents, 'I am,' Line Two explores, 'Who am I,' and Line Three discovers, 'There is no I.'

In addition to this linear structure, we can also look at the vertical lines. The first vertical line of the Majors includes The Magician, Strength, and The Devil.

The lemniscates present in The Magician and Strength symbolize co-creation with the Divine. The energy is a closed-loop circuit of infinite potential.

In The Devil, the lemniscate is replaced with a reversed pentagram—a symbol of fear and ego misalignment.

The Magician is where we begin. It's the card of pure manifestation potential, of recognizing that we already have everything we need.

Smith Rider Waite Deck, The Magician

Unlike stage magicians who offer sleight-of-hand illusions or fictional wizards who possess superpowers, The Magician of the Tarot removes illusions and fictions.

This Magician's powers come from the life force of all creation and his fidelity to his vision. He represents consciousness, action, and creation.

In the Smith-Rider Waite deck, we see a figure whose red and white robes are gathered by a snake eating its tail, another symbol of the infinite possibility he channels.

On his table rest the four tools of the Minor Arcana suits: a Cup (water), a Sword (air), a Wand (fire), and a Pentacle (earth). These represent emotional, mental, creative, and physical power—the elements of manifestation.

In one hand, The Magician points his magic wand towards the heavens while his other hand points a finger to the ground. He is pulling from the Divine and channeling it here on earth.

Above all, The Magician reminds you that you are a divining rod for the miraculous possibility of creation, here and now!

A Manifestation Ritual with The Magician and the New Moon in Capricorn

The New Moon in Capricorn on Sunday, January 18th, is an especially powerful time for manifestation work.

New Moons are all about planting seeds and setting intentions. Capricorn, the master builder, grounds those intentions in reality and asks: What are you actually willing to build?

The Magician teaches us that we already have everything we need. Capricorn teaches us to use those tools with discipline and practical wisdom.

What You'll Need

  • A candle (any color is fine)

  • Paper and pen

  • A stone (any stone—from your garden, a river, anywhere)

That's it. Tonight's manifestation doesn't require fancy tools.

The Ritual (15 minutes)

Do this on Sunday evening, January 18th, anytime after sunset.

1. Light your candle and get grounded (2 minutes)

Sit comfortably. Close your eyes. Take three deep breaths. Feel your body in the chair, your feet on the floor. Imagine roots growing from you down into the earth. You are held. You are steady.

2. Take The Magician's stance (1 minute)

Stand up. Raise one hand toward the sky and point the other toward the ground.

Say aloud: "I am the bridge between heaven and earth. I have everything I need. As above, so below."

(Feel free to modify these words to whatever feels right to you.)

3. Write your intentions (5 minutes)

Sit back down. Write 1-3 specific things you want to build or create in 2026. Be concrete. Capricorn doesn't like vague wishes.

Instead of "I want to be healthier," write "I work out three times a week." Instead of "I want more money," write "I earn $X per month." Instead of "I want love," write "I am in a relationship with someone who values me."

Under each intention, write ONE small action you can take this week toward it.

4. Seal it (2 minutes)

Fold your paper three times. Hold it to your heart. Close your eyes and see yourself already living this reality. Feel it. Really feel it.

Then place the paper under your stone. Say: "I plant these seeds. I will tend them with patience and action. I trust the timing."

5. Close it (5 minutes)

Blow out your candle. Put your stone and paper somewhere you'll see it every day—your nightstand, your desk, your altar.

Every morning when you see it, remember: you're building something. Slow and steady. One step at a time.

That's it.

You don't need to do anything else unless you want to. The magic is in the clarity, the commitment, and the consistency.

By the Full Moon on February 3rd, check back in with your intentions. Have you taken those small steps? Adjust as needed. This is a practice, not a performance.
